Codependent

The scene opens on two women, Clara (Dee Williams) and Beth (Katie Morgan), sitting across a table. Beth frets that Spencer is running late again — last time he kept them waiting a full two hours for their joint prayer session. When Spencer (Dick Chibbles) finally strolls in, we learn he's married to both women. And the reason he's late? He's been seeing someone new, and he wants to make her wife number three. Talk about spreading himself thin. Days later, Clara's doorbell rings and she lets Beth inside. It feels a little odd getting together without Spencer around, but they've got nobody else who understands their tangled situation. On the couch, sitting stiffly apart, they vent about being neglected and realize Spencer has been quietly stoking a rivalry between them. So they decide to drop it. Over the following weeks the two grow closer, until one afternoon they're pressed side by side on Clara's couch, agreeing they don't need Spencer's attention when they've got each other. Beth lays her head in Clara's lap, gazing up, and Clara softly strokes her hair before their hands find each other. Beth leans in for a kiss, hesitates, and Clara takes a steadying breath before nodding yes. From that first tender kiss things heat up fast, two wives discovering they were the perfect match all along — no husband required.
