Family threesome: Gracie Jane, Dante Colle, Jenna Gargles

Life hasn't handed Maria (Gracie Jane) any easy cards. As she and her girlfriend Brandi (Jenna Gargles) walk up to a plain little house, dread sits heavy in her chest. She left home years ago and swore she'd never come back. But the death of a family member -- Maria's stepmom -- has changed all that. A lawyer has called her in for a will reading, which means facing her estranged stepbrother Adam (Dante Colle), and she's far from ready. When Adam opens the door, the hurt and resentment pour off him. He nearly slams it shut, but Brandi digs in her heels and stands up for her girl, talking their way inside. Being here is hard enough -- he doesn't need to twist the knife. With the lawyer running late, the silence in the house is deafening. Tensions climb, and the gap between the stepsiblings only stretches wider. It's plain to see they both carry old wounds, both wrestling with betrayal wrapped up in family. Maria says their family, especially Adam's parent, treated her cruelly because she's trans. Adam remembers it differently, and he digs in to defend them. Maria fights to show him her side -- what those years really felt like, and how she finally found peace and acceptance with other trans women like Brandi. Slowly, as they wade through years of pain, confusion, and ignorance, Adam's eyes start to open. Maybe his parent wasn't the kind woman he thought she was... and maybe he walked the same narrow path. Now that it's all out on the table, can these two finally patch things up, or has too much already been broken?
