Future Darkly: Eyes In The Sky

The scene opens on an empty suitcase in the middle of a bed while the radio hums in the background. Alex (Adriana Chechik), a 21-year-old college student, tosses items in as she hurries to pack for the weekend. It's her anniversary with Derek (Seth Gamble), her boyfriend of several years, and he's booked a cottage up north. She can't wait to escape school and her roommates for some quality alone time. She packs and repacks — clothes, underwear, hiking boots, a book of erotica, a box of condoms, and a handmade anniversary card. She wants everything to be perfect. As she fusses over the last few things, the camera finally pulls back to show her in full. A car honks in the driveway and her roommate shouts that Derek's arrived. She zips the bag, grins ear to ear, kills the radio and dashes for the front door. Derek waits by his car, and the camera lingers as she runs out, wraps him in a big hug, and hops in. A bird's-eye shot follows Derek's car down a tree-lined road, passing the occasional vehicle. After a beat of ambiance, Alex's voice cuts in — she's running a trivia game and Derek keeps guessing. The camera tightens on the lone car as the couple laughs and plays. Derek finally loses and jokingly tells her to shut the app off. Inside the car, Alex sets her phone down and watches the trees roll by. The sun sinks behind them and she smiles at the view. From a front-mounted shot, Derek catches her gaze and starts talking up the cottage — rustic, right on a lake, near plenty of hiking trails. Best of all, there's a hot tub on the deck. Alex turns back and squeezes his hand, ready for a weekend that promises far more than just a change of scenery. With Ryan Mclane and Kristen Scott rounding out this Adult Time sci-fi original, those eyes in the sky are watching every move.
