Detour

SCENE OPENS on two fresh eighteen-year-olds, Molly and Sandra, clocking out of their mall jobs and heading to the curbside rideshare pickup. From inside the car, the camera watches them lean in, confirm the ride, and slide into the back seat. Their driver is Stefan, a clean-cut, handsome guy who greets them politely, checks the pickup on his phone, and pulls out of the lot. CUT TO TITLE PLATE On the drive, the girls chat about the stresses of life at home. Both just turned eighteen and can't wait to graduate and finally be independent — that's why they're grinding at the mall, saving up for a dream backpacking trip once school wraps. Stefan listens quietly, grinning to himself at their banter. Eventually Molly, the bolder of the two, asks where his accent is from. When he says Europe, both girls light up — that's exactly where they want to go! Stefan plays the worldly, sophisticated type, dishing out travel tips from his own adventures. The girls hang on every word and trade glances. The driver's kind of cute for an older guy... While Molly does her best awkward-teen flirting, Sandra notices they're not exactly heading toward home. She goes quiet and nervous as her best friend keeps giggling away. Turns out this ride has taken a serious detour. Stefan drives them out to a remote spot and stops the car. Before Sandra can protest, he tells the girls he's making a quick pit-stop at his place — he's got something he thinks would be perfect for their trip. Molly's eyes go wide and she practically climbs over Sandra to get out. Reserved Sandra follows her friend inside anyway. Stefan and Molly step into the house, Sandra trailing cautiously behind. In the living room, Molly gawks at all the unusual artwork on the walls, and things heat up fast from there. What started as a simple ride share turns into a threesome nobody printed on the itinerary.
