Carolee Bass

Carolee Bass proves that Alaska exports more than oil and cold fronts — it also apparently grows centerfolds. Born in Fairbanks and raised in a state where wearing three coats at once counts as fashion, Carolee traded the tundra for Arizona sunshine when she headed south for college, and somewhere between textbooks and tank tops she found her way in front of a Playboy camera instead. She debuted as Cybergirl of the Month in April 2002, becoming Playboy's first-ever Alaskan Cybergirl, a title she wears with the same pride most people reserve for state championships. Standing 5'7" (170 cm), with dark hair and brown eyes that read as equal parts girl-next-door and heat wave, Carolee built her name almost entirely within the glossy, artful world of Playboy Muses, a genre that trades in classic glamour rather than shock value — think tasteful centerfold energy, not explicit theatrics. Her most legendary moment involves rapper and Pimp My Ride host Xzibit, assigned as her celebrity photographer for what was supposed to be a tidy one-hour session. Carolee was apparently so distracting that the shoot ballooned to four hours, setting an unofficial Playboy record and proving some subjects simply refuse to be rushed. Represented through Playboy Plus, Carolee Bass remains a footnote-turned-headline in the brand's history: proof that sometimes the best exports come from the coldest places.
